Rajeev Chowk is the Biggest and the Busiest intersection of the Gurugram. It is situated at the NH-48 and surrounded by important government offices, including the Mini Secretariat and Police Head Quarter. Besides, there are many residential and industrial establishments around this intersection. Given the current design of the intersection, it is not able to cope-up with the heavy and mixed traffic flow.
The problems identified at this intersection were; multi-lane traffic movement, messy parking of vehicles due to non-availability of the designated parking area, diagonal approach from Sohna towards Mini Secretariat, lack of pedestrian facilities, absence of Traffic Lights, and confusion among the road users due to its two-sided diagonal approach and confusing U-Turns, etc.
Rajeev Chowk, a ‘Road Accident Black Spot’, experienced 41 accidents, 13 deaths, and 25 injuries between 2019-2021 due to factors like multi-lane traffic, parking issues, diagonal approach, lack of pedestrian facilities, absence of traffic lights, confusion among road users, and confusing U-Turns.

During its advocacy with the Himachal Pradesh Transport Department, TRAX identified a critical gap: the state had neither implemented CMV Rule 138 (4) (f) nor incorporated it into its motor vehicle regulations. Recognizing the significance of this provision for road safety, TRAX initiated persistent advocacy efforts with the transport department, urging the inclusion of this crucial rule. Following rigorous and sustained engagement, the state legislative assembly passed a landmark bill integrating CMV Rule 138 (4) (f) into the state motor vehicle act. This pivotal change was officially enacted through Gazette Notification No. TPT-C(9)-5/2003, dated August 1, 2024, marking a significant step forward in advancing road safety in Himachal Pradesh.
