About Us

India is heading towards better infrastructure and better vehicles. But on another hand in every one hour, 423 road crash deaths are happening. In 2019, 4,37,396 Road Crashes 1,54,732 fatalities and 4,39,262 people got injured. This is a high time to take the step steps to make the Roads more Safer with more participation of Government, Corporates, NGOs and Public.

In the modern world, road and transport have become an integral part of every single person. Though the present transport system has helped us to minimize the distances but still the lives are at stake as every year road crashes result in the loss of lakhs of lives and serious injuries to crores of people. In a diverse country like India with minimal transportation safety, about 80,000 people are killed in road crashes which are 13% of the total fatality all over the world. Several surveys highlight the fact that most crashes occur either due to the carelessness of the man behind the wheel or due to a lack of road safety awareness of the road user. Hence it becomes crucial to educate citizens about road safety. Also, with more than 1 fatality being reported every three minutes road safety is a critical issue in a country like India.

So, in order to reduce the risk of road crashes/accidents with the help of technology we need to focus on two points: Firstly, it should reduce the number of crashes or crash severity. Secondly, to determine new safety risks/issues that may be introduced by an evolving road system. To increase road safety through the use of technology we should firstly focus on reducing traffic conjectures. To reduce traffics certain measures had already been taken such as reinventing traffic lights such as replacing them with LEDs that are much cheaper, long-lasting and do not burn out, installation of street lights to lighten the roads to make path visible, introduction to countdown which give the driver a visual cue of how much longer they have to wait or how much time they have to get to the intersection before green turns to amber and red, installation of road signs which provide information besides stop and go, like the recommended speed limit, road conditions ahead, etc. But in spite of these measures, it had hardly reduced road accidents so the other additional technological advancements that should be widely implemented are:

  1. AUTOMATIC EMERGENCY BRAKING SYSTEM:

This system has been assigned to assist with the prevention of injuries due to accidents to the rear end of a vehicle. Crash Imminent Braking detects when an impending crash with another vehicle is likely to occur sooner and will slow or stop the vehicle if the driver has not taken any action.

  1. BACKUP CAMERAS AND BLIND-SPOT DETECTION:

It prevents crashes that occur when a driver is backing up. This camera will turn on anytime the vehicle is in reverse and will allow the driver to be able to see the area behind the vehicle. Whereas using blind spot detection will help a driver ensure that there are not any vehicles that are in their blind spot if they are changing lanes.

  1. ECS: ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL:

Electronic Stability Control, or ECS for short, is a technology that prevents a vehicle from skidding on sharp curves which in turn helps the driver not to lose the control. It automatically activates when you start your car and works by reducing the engine speed. ECS has proven to be very useful as it can likely prevent around fifty per cent of the total rollovers or car crashes.

  1. ACC: AUTONOMOUS CRUISE CONTROL:

Autonomous Cruise Control, also known as ACC is a technology which automatically adjust the speed of your car which in return will help the driver maintain a safe distance from other vehicles in front. This will also lead to a comfortable driving as the use of brakes will get reduced. Now more advance version of this cruise control is also available which is called adaptive autonomous control which will have some more added features than this.

  1. INTERLOCK DEVICES:

Interlock devices are those devices which will help to monitor the driver if he/she is fit for driving or not. Some tools such as an in-vehicle Breathalyzer will subdue a vehicle if the blood alcohol content is over 0.08 for the driver.

  1. ANTI-RECKLESS TEEN DRIVING TECH:

There are temptations for reckless driving with teens. Now-a-days, reckless driving has become normal for the teens and also is just a matter of fun and style. Now, there are ads on for phones with GPS that will alert a parent if the teen is driving too dangerously or too fast; one example is Speed Demon.

  1. GEAR SHIFT PALM DETECTION:

The gear shift palm detection is a sensor that will lock the car and will not start it if trace of alcohol is detected. One of the car companies which offer this type of technology is Nissan.

  1. PHONE SUPPRESSION TECHNOLOGY:

This technology is also contributing to the road safety by helping the drivers to ignore the phone while driving. This technology automatically blocks texts messages and informs everyone that the person they are texting is driving. Also, it automatically tells everyone on call that the person they are calling is driving and cannot attend the call right now.

If these measures are being implemented and followed widely, it can bring a vast change in the current situation of road safety and will build a safer road network and secure the safety of all the road users up to a very large extent.
