Promoting Safe Infrastructure

TRAX promotes evidence-based road safety engineering and infrastructure improvements that reduce crashes, protect vulnerable road users, and create safer communities. Our work focuses on transforming high-risk locations into safer, more accessible, and sustainable road environments through engineering, education, and policy advocacy.

Safe Junction Design

TRAX has successfully designed and implemented safe junction interventions at several high-risk and accident-prone locations across India. Through road safety audits, traffic engineering solutions, junction redesign, traffic calming measures, and stakeholder collaboration, we have transformed blackspots into safer intersections. Notable interventions include Hero Honda Chowk, Rajeev Chowk, MVN Chowk, East Delhi DM Roundabout, and Hapania Junction in Agartala. These projects have improved traffic flow, enhanced pedestrian safety, and contributed to significant reductions in road crashes and fatalities.

Safe School Zones

TRAX is a pioneer in developing Safe School Zones that protect children on their journey to and from school. Through infrastructure improvements, traffic calming measures, pedestrian facilities, speed management, and community engagement, we have successfully transformed 14 Vulnerable School Zones into Safe School Zones across Delhi, Gurugram, Faridabad, Mumbai, and Agartala. TRAX also advocated with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways for the adoption of 25 km/h speed limits around school zones, strengthening child road safety across India.

Traffic Awareness Parks

TRAX has developed five innovative Traffic Awareness Park Models in collaboration with the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, UNICEF India, state governments, and educational institutions. These parks provide children with practical, hands-on road safety education through simulated traffic environments, helping them learn road signs, pedestrian behaviour, cycling safety, and responsible road use. Designed as scalable and replicable models, these parks create lasting behavioural change and contribute to reducing child road traffic injuries.

Road Safety Excellence Centre for Civil Engineers

Recognizing the critical role of engineering in preventing road crashes, TRAX promotes capacity building for civil engineers, urban planners, highway professionals, and infrastructure stakeholders through its Road Safety Excellence initiatives. These programs focus on road safety audits, safe road design principles, blackspot treatment, vulnerable road user protection, school zone safety, and sustainable mobility. By equipping engineers with global best practices and practical tools, TRAX is helping build safer roads through safer design.
